Local fashion round-up for week of 5.19.09

Here's some little blips on the local fashion front this week:

Southwest Journal highlights fave local fashion designer Laura Fulk, on the heels of her first solo show "Suffocate" during MNfashion Week. (I helped style the shoot with Eclecticoiffeur, featuring some great shots by Robb Long.) Look for it on newstands this week and in the Downtown Journal next week.

Local shop Cliche was featured in new online video diary The CW Twin Cities Beat (produced by StarTribune.com), in which they try on new spring looks by local designers Emily Weich, Niki English, Carmichael Claith.

Emily Kaiser reports on City Pages' Blotter that Anna Wintour said
"Minnesotans are fatties the size of 'little houses'". Hah.

Some sales happening this week I just got word of:

Grethen House is having its 30% off sale Thursday through Saturday. The entire store will be 30% off, including all spring clothing, shoes and accessories by as Yohji Yamamoto, Martin Margiela, and Stella McCartney. It's the only shop in town to carry such big names so getting them on sale is a treat. (4930 France Ave., Edina. 952-926-8725.)

On Saturday, Minneapolis' favorite DJ Jake Rudh is having a Transmission yard sale, featuring everything from vintage records, to mid-century furniture, to vintage clothing. For location and times check out the
facebook invite.

Check out this Thursday's edition of
Vita.mn for more shopping news.
