'Envision' Promo Image by Stokes Foto / Dress by Re-Evolution / Modeled by Kara

With all the fashion events planned next month in Minneapolis, the entire month of April might as well be Spring Fashion MonthMNfashion has just announced the full schedule of events for MNfashion Week, held April 20-26. Here are some events Le Petit suggests you put in your social planner:

'Envision 2009' at 4/11 at Graves 401 Hotel
I haven't attended past 'Envision' fashion shows, but there's enough big names behind it that it has to be worth checking out. Though it's mainly a model showcase, it also showcases a ton of local designers: Amanda Christine, kjurek couture, Renate Adjei, JoyNoelle, and seven others, plus clothing from local boutiques Cliché, Drama, V-State and Local Motion. I'm intrigued to see the line Re-Evolution by Sarah Holm, whose past work is showcased on the impressive promotional images for the show (shown above). I will be representing Vita.mn as a guest judge for the live hair show portion of the evening. 9 p.m. $20-35. 601 1st Av. S., Mpls.

Identical twin models and out-and-about fashion plates known as Coco & Breezy are launching their first fashion line. They're calling the line "Guemela Amor," which means "twin love" in Spanish. For the show, the twins won't be modeling their looks, though they design what they want to wear. "We got inspired (to design a  line) because we always redesign the things we buy, so we decided, Why not just make our own line?" For the line, expect "Tokyo streetwear-meets-high fashion-meets-craziness, like our style." The show will also features fashions by Oskar Ly, Mitsou Ly, and Brittany Hughes. 7 p.m. $7. 213 4th St. E., St. Paul. Always the most theatrical element of Voltage every year since its inception, award-winning local fashion designer
Laura Fulk is breaking out on her own with her first solo show, produced by go-to arts calendar mplsart.com. As with anything Fulk does, it's not simply another fashion show; art meets fashion when Fulk incorporates fabric printed with art by visual artists Melissa Breitenfeldt and Jay Langer into her designs. 6:30-10 p.m., show begins at 8 p.m. $15. 700 1st St. N., Mpls. Voltage: Fashion Amplified 2009 4/24 at First Avenue
The annual fashion rock show is back for its fifth (!) year at legendary rock club First Avenue. As many longtime Voltage designers have stepped down to pursue solo shows or moved out of state, expect a lot of new faces at this year's show. Returning designers include the dreamy, '20s-esque looks of Max Lohrbach, the sophisticated designs of
Amanda Christine, and the fairytale-inspired styles of Calpurnia Peach. Also new this year: A pop-up designer boutique, an in-house after party DJ'd by Transmission DJ Jake Rudh, and a move to Friday night. 9 p.m. $25-30. 701 1st Av. N., Mpls. Click here for tickets.

Boutique open houses 4/25-26 at Cliche & Design Collective
Check out the Voltage collections up close at designer open houses at local boutiques
Cliche and Design Collective. Saturday night, check out Voltage lines by Amanda Christine, Arwyn Birch, Ivan Idland, and Jenny Carle, modeled by live models. (And if you're lucky, you might get into the private VIP reception on Sunday morning.) On Saturday, view Voltage collections by Calpurnia Peach, Max Lohrbach, Allison Quinnell, and 2709 and treat yourself to mimosas and hors d'oeuvres. You never know, you may go home with your very own collectors' item. (Cliche: 7-9 p.m. Sat. Free. 2403 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. 612-870-0420. Design Collective: 1-5 p.m. Sun. Free. 1311 W. 26th St., Mpls. 612-377-1000.)

And one for May while we're at it:

RetroRama 5/21 at Minnesota History Center
The fourth edition of the
Minnesota Historical Society’s exploration of retro style steps away from the ‘50s to include four other stylish decades of American fashion. This year’s local designers who reimagine looks from the 1920s-1960s include Max Lohrbach, Ivan Idland, Calpurnia Peach, and Sarah Holm. Best of all, this year's show will be held outdoors under a tent, so we can all pretend we're having our very own Fashion Week show.
